About Monoclonal Technologies

Monoclonal Technologies is a leading provider of high-quality monoclonal antibodies and diagnostic reagents, specializing in solutions for Legionella detection in environmental and research applications. Our products are trusted by laboratories, water treatment facilities, and research institutions for their reliability, sensitivity, and specificity.

We have been in business for over 38 years with proven testing methods. m-Tech's founder,  Lee Thacker, worked for the CDC for 20 years including the time of the Legionnaire's Disease outbreak in 1976. He helped develop the reagents for the first DFA test for Legionella and described the first four serogroups of Legionella pneumophila. He also produced the first monoclonal antibodies used to detect Legionella. m-Tech was incorporated in 1984 and began producing and supplying various test kits. m-Tech specializes in research, manufacturing and distribution of DFA tests including antibodies, antigens and prepared slides used for Legionella pneumophila serogroups and species identification. Trust our expertise in Legionella antibody and Goat IgG Secondary antibody production.

Why Test?

Legionella is a diverse genus, although L. pneumophila serogroup 1 causes most cases of Legionnaires’ disease. During an investigation, it is common to find more than one type of Legionella in several possible sources. If you identify Legionella strains other than the presumptive outbreak strain through environmental sampling, you should consider this as evidence that conditions supporting Legionella growth and transmission exist within the building water system(s). https://www.cdc.gov/legionella/health-depts/epi-resources/outbreak-investigations.html

While there are more than 58 different recognised Legionella species, less than half of those can cause illness in humans. However, while around 25 species are known to be harmful to us, just one has been identified as the cause of most outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease.https://legionellacontrol.com/legionella/legionella-species/
